American designer Calvin Klein founded his fashion brand in 1968 in New York City. Initially, he was known for sportswear, classic blazers, and lingerie. In the mid-1970s, Klein was at the forefront of the designer jeans trend, being amongst the first to add his brand label to the back jeans pocket. He would also add his logo to other garments. The perfumes and colognes were initially introduced in 1981, then disappeared before reemerging in the early 1990s. Previously managed by Unilever-owned Calvin Klein Cosmetics Company, the licenses are now owned by Coty, Inc.
